One-On-One Coaching
and how do I benefit from it?
One-on-one coaching includes the
following:
- Teaching you the right information
- Developing your skills
- Expanding your options
- Giving you feedback
- Prioritizing your activities
- Creating and/or supporting your
commitment, motivation and focus
- Creative problem solving
- Setting your goals
- Developing action plans to realize
your goals
- Holding you accountable for
implementing your action plans
All of the above and more is delivered
and facilitated in one-on-one business coaching by an independent
observer acting as your collaborative partner who is knowledgeable in
industry specific business skills with the goal of increasing your income
while reducing your work hours as you gain more control and experience
less stress.
One-on-one coaching is primarily
focused on where you are now, where you want to be, what might be in
the way of getting there, how you will get there, and by when. One-on-one
coaching has the advantage of focusing only on you and your particular
needs right now.
Because of this individual focus it is
highly likely you will move forward faster than if you were in a group
setting. Additionally, it enables you to talk more freely and
spontaneously about what is on your mind since you don’t have others
listening to what might be proprietary information or something you might
consider sensitive business information.
The major downside to one-on-one coaching
is the investment is higher although the faster pace of results you are
likely to experience largely if not totally mitigates that.

Small Group Coaching and
how do I benefit from it?
Small group coaching includes the
following:
- Teaching you the right information
- Developing your skills
- Expanding your options
- Giving you feedback
- Prioritizing your activities
- Creating and/or supporting your
commitment, motivation and focus
- Creative problem solving
- Setting your goals
- Developing action plans to realize
your goals
- Holding you accountable for
implementing your action plans
All of the above and more is delivered
and facilitated in small group (usually from 3 to 6 attorneys and
ideally in the same practice areas) business coaching by an independent
observer acting as your collaborative partner who is knowledgeable in
industry-specific business skills with the goal of increasing your income
while reducing your work hours as you gain more control and experience
less stress.
Small group coaching is highly focused
on where you are now, where you want to be, what might be in the way
of getting there, how you will get there, and by when.
The biggest advantage in small group
coaching is the investment is more affordable. Some attorneys like the
interaction, relationships, and feedback as well as feel more motivated by
being in a small group. Others find being in a small group inhibiting and
limiting. Still others don’t like listening to some of the conversations
in the small group that may not apply directly to their exact situation.

Large Group Coaching and how do I
benefit from it?
Large group coaching includes the
following:
- Teaching you the right information
- Developing your skills
- Expanding your options
- Giving you feedback
- Prioritizing your activities
- Creating and/or supporting your
commitment, motivation and focus
- Creative problem solving
- Setting your goals
- Developing action plans to realize
your goals
- Holding you accountable for
implementing your action plans
All of the above and more is delivered
and facilitated in large group (6 up to 100 attorneys) business coaching
by an independent observer acting as your collaborative partner who is
knowledgeable in industry specific business skills with the goal of
increasing your income while reducing your work hours as you gain more
control and experience less stress.
That said, large group coaching can be
focused on where you are now, where you want to be, what might be in
the way of getting there, how you will get there, and by when if you
volunteer to speak about your particular situation in a large group
setting.
Large group coaching tends to skew
more toward teaching the right information and skill development than
the other areas mentioned above unless you volunteer as a model for the
whole group or ask penetrating questions about your particular
circumstances. In this setting most people listen and the same few tend to
volunteer.
The biggest advantages with large
group coaching are the investment is easily affordable by anyone, the
information will be very valuable and you can at least observe how
coaching works in case you want to or need to get into it deeper. The
biggest disadvantage is there will be little along the lines of getting
feedback, setting goals, developing action plans and being held
accountable for implementing the action plans unless you volunteer.
For the most part in large group
coaching you are self-motivating and self accountable which is fine
for some and not so fine for others. Generally, this is not the fast track
to getting results and it is a viable option.
